Small Fixes

Little things around the house have a way of adding up. A bathroom sink starts draining a bit slower. There’s a small drip under the sink. A lightbulb burns out, but it’s in a spot that’s hard to reach. Or maybe the shower floor feels slippery, and you worry about falling.

None of these are big problems on their own—but keeping up with all of them can get harder over time.

That’s where we help. We stop by each month to take care of those everyday fixes, and just as importantly, we keep an eye on things so small issues don’t turn into bigger ones later.

We also take time to slow down and chat. If there are things around the house that are becoming more challenging than they used to be, we’ll talk them through and suggest simple ways to make your home easier, safer, and more comfortable to live in.

The Home You Love… With a Few Smart Changes

While the goal is to stay in your home, it’s important to recognize that our homes don’t always change as our bodies do. Things that were once no big deal—like stairs, low lighting, or slippery floors—can slowly become safety risks.

Aging in place works best when the home is adapted to meet changing needs. That might include:

  • Adding grab bars in the bathroom

  • Improving lighting in hallways and stairways

  • Securing handrails and steps

  • Reducing trip hazards like loose rugs or cords

  • Making small changes that reduce strain on joints and balance

These updates aren’t about making your home feel “medical.” They’re about making everyday life easier and safer, so you can keep living comfortably.

Planning Ahead Brings Peace of Mind

The best time to think about aging in place is before there’s a problem. Small improvements made early can help prevent falls, injuries, and unnecessary stress—for you and for your family.

A little planning today can mean:

  • Fewer emergencies later

  • More confidence moving around your home

  • Greater peace of mind for loved ones

  • A longer, safer stay in the home you cherish

Each month, we stop by to look for anything around the home that might cause slips, trips, or safety concerns. Sometimes it's a loose rug, a dim hallway light, or a stair rail that needs attention. Other times, you may mention something that's becoming harder, like bending, reaching, or feeling steady in the shower.

During each visit, we'll chat about how things are going If anything feels uncomfortable or difficult, we'll offer simple solutions - motion-sensor night-lights, grab bars in the bathroom, easier-to-use doorknobs, and many other small improvements designed to help you stay confident and independent.

Our approach is simple: kindness, practical solutions, and genuine conversation. We're not here to sell anything, we're here to help take the worry off your shoulders - and off your family's shoulders too.
