Eating Well And Feeling Good

Food is one of life's everyday pleasures.

A good breakfast. The smell of coffee in the morning. A bowl of homemade soup on a cold day. Fresh sweet corn in the summer. A favorite recipe that's been in the family for years. Or maybe just sitting down with someone you enjoy and sharing a meal together.

Food isn't only about what we eat.

It's also about how we feel.

Some meals leave us feeling satisfied and energized. Others may leave us feeling tired or uncomfortable. Sometimes we simply aren't as hungry as we used to be. Cooking for one or two people may not seem worth the effort. And every once in a while, we may realize that we've been eating the same handful of things simply because they're easy and familiar.

That's what Eating Well and Feeling Good is all about.

This isn't about dieting, counting calories, giving up all the foods you love, or being told what you should and shouldn't eat. There are already plenty of people willing to do that.

Instead, we're going to explore food with a little curiosity.

What foods help you feel satisfied without feeling overly full? Are there easy meals that give you more energy? Could drinking a little more throughout the day help you feel better? Is there a simpler way to prepare fresh foods without spending an hour in the kitchen? Could you make a favorite recipe in a smaller batch—or discover something completely new that you really enjoy?

There are also plenty of little tricks that can make eating well easier. Keeping a few simple ingredients on hand. Preparing something once and enjoying it several times. Finding convenient foods that are still satisfying. Making meals easier when you don't feel like cooking. Even changing when or how much you eat may be worth exploring.

And don't forget that eating can be social, too.

Invite someone over for coffee. Share a pot of soup with a neighbor. Trade favorite recipes with a friend. Have breakfast for supper just because you can. Food has an amazing way of bringing people together—and there are no rules saying a good meal has to be complicated.

As you explore, pay attention to how different foods and routines make you feel.

Keep the things you enjoy. Try something different once in a while. And if something doesn't appeal to you, leave it behind and try another idea.

Because eating well isn't about having a perfect diet.

It's about enjoying your food, enjoying your life, and discovering what helps you feel good.
